These executives have intensified their focus on working capital, especially improving cash positions. The typical A/P department is uniquely positioned to support a firm’s cash management objectives, including extending Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) but also capturing early payment and volume discounts while avoiding late payment fees and providing support to ensure orders and payments are compliant to contracts.

Purchasing procurement software can be tough, not only deciding which of a dozen vendors to choose, but what type of solution you need – on-demand or on-premise. Read this white paper and uncover the total cost of ownership and benefits associated with each type of solution to determine the right fit for your organization.
Procurement software enables organizations to save time, money, and effort throughout the procure-to-pay cycle. It has a direct and immediate ability to cut costs and control spending.
While there are dozens of procurement software solutions available, there are really only two types offered: “on-premise” procurement software and newer “on demand” procurement software.
With on-premise procurement software, a software vendor sells you a “copy” of their product for an up-front fee. You then buy the computer equipment necessary to run the software along with the other underlying programs you need (e.g. application server, database). You manage the installation and implementation process. You are responsible for keeping the system up-and-running and up-to-date.
With the newer on-demand model, the software vendor assumes much more responsibility. There is no installation process, no computer equipment to buy and manage, and no ongoing maintenance. Instead, the vendor runs the on-demand service for you. It is available without having to buy a “copy” of the software for an up-front fee. Instead, an all-inclusive monthly subscription covers the cost of the procurement software and the cost to manage and support the procurement software at an external location on your behalf.
This white paper outlines an approach to compute and compare the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for on-premise procurement software vs. on-demand.

Why you should read The Wisdom of Crowds
This well-written bestseller explores the apparent anomaly that crowds of nonexperts seem to be collectively smarter than individual experts or even small groups of experts. This basic insight is at the heart of contemporary financial investment theory, with its emphasis on the difficulty of outguessing the market. Beginning with British scientist Francis Galton’s remarkable discovery in 1906 that a crowd of nonexperts proved surprisingly competent at guessing the weight of an ox, financial columnist and author James Surowiecki skillfully recounts experiments, discoveries and anecdotes that demonstrate productive group thinking. The concept does not come as news to anyone reasonably well read in modern financial literature, but getAbstract recommends this comprehensive, fresh presentation.
About the Author
James Surowiecki is a staff writer at The New Yorker, which publishes his popular business column, “The Financial Page”.

Data and voice convergence in contact centers is inevitable. Learn how companies are benefiting from the experience of Avaya and EDS, an HP company.
Virtualization, it’s not just trendy, it’s inevitable. The future of contact center environments is in voice and data convergence using IP-based infrastructures. One key reason is that IP technologies continue to make it easier and cheaper to move data. Also, with the solid track record of IP infrastructures, there’s no longer a reason to keep agents next to the data center. The data can easily come to them, wherever they are in the world.
